TASK 4. ‘’KEY COMPETENCES’’ - Stars

Introduction:

Good morning, we are Lidia and Sofía, the Stars this week of our group Potential Teachers and we are going to explain the Complex Activity that we have developed combining 4 of the activities of the book that the teacher gave us. 

After choosing the ones that we found most interesting we will explain them and develop together, we hope you like them!

1- Create a Story map of an interesting place in your country. Add text, photos and video.

• Competence: Cultural Awareness and expression. 

• Knowledge (K): Awareness and understanding of your own cultural heritage

In this first activity, what we are going to do is to choose an interesting place in Spain, if you prefer because you are more familiar you can choose one of Murcia, and tell the story of when you went for the first time.

In the story you have to include information like:

• Why do you like it?

• How did you know about this place?

• Why did you go there and with who?

• Some features/characteristics/data of the sites..

• Fun facts

Moreover, you can include photos from the Internet, videos from YouTube, and decorate your Story Map…

Here we will be developing the competences of Cultural Awareness and expression because surely we will discover many interesting places for our colleagues that we didn’t know before. We will also be learning about cultural heritage so you can talk about a place with many historical monuments, museums..

2- Start a campaign on Causes and try to change the world for the better! 

• Competence: Sense of initiative and entrepreneurship. 

• Skill (S): Taking initiative and responsibility

 Once you all have created the stories, you are going to see and read the rest of the stories. Then we are going to give you X post-its so that you write in them suggestions and your own ideas for changing and improving the place your classmates have chosen. Please, be kind and give respectful feedback. 

This activity develops the competence of Sense of initiative and entrepreneurship and the skill you are fostering taking initiative and responsibility.

3-  Design flyers, posters, presentations, invitations and lots more with Canva. 

• Competence: Cultural Awareness and expression

• Skill (S): Being able to express oneself through a variety of creative media.

Now we will use an application called Canva.

What is Canva? It offers online tools to create your own designs, whether they are for fun or professional use. It also allows you to make your own designs from scratch, adding images, other elements and texts.

The, you are going to make a poster promoting the place you have chosen before, adding photos, stickers, words that describe the place…

Canva is a very useful page that surely all have used because the presentations are aesthetically very well and are easy to use.

In this activity we will be working on the competence of Cultural awareness and expression to be able to express ideas and ourselves through creative media.

Although you are not really children, we wanted to create an account so that the activity is easier for you.

4- Take a note in Evernote every time a certain learning strategy proves successful 

• Competence: Learning to learn. 

• Knowledge (K): Understand your own preferred learning strategies.

And finally you have to use Evernote which is an app for creating notes. It is pretty useful not only for this activity but also for other subjects since it helps students like you to take notes, organize your files and take clipping and snippets from virtually anywhere on the web. 

We have created an account for you, as for the rest of apps since it is easier for you.

So the last step of this activity is to create a note in this App answering the following questions about the activity:

• What have you learned from the activity and from your classmates?

• What is the place you liked the most?

• What is the story you like the most?

Within this activity you are working the competence of Learning to learn in order to be able to understand your own preferred learning strategies.
