TASK 7. "COMPUTATIONAL THINKING AND CODING" - Analyst

ANALYST: SANDRA MARIN SOTO

To begin with I would like to point out the positive aspects of the task, we have all participated in a new experience that has made us realize how the world of the radio would more or less work, from an amateur point of view. We managed to record all the parts at the first time, something that has improved since the first task because now there is a higher level of confidence, which makes us work more comfortably and be less embarrassed to do certain things. We also had a great time recording it because there were parts in which the tone of voice that we put was funny, it was a very fun activity. Besides the fact that we were a little tired from the previous class which had been a little intense which made us laugh even more. Another good part is that we finished early because we were hungry and two of the members of the group had to leave earlier, so that they could arrive on time. We all worked as a team so that they could get there.

On the other hand this confidence mentioned before also brings with it some complications that we ourselves have talked about such as lack of organization or how comfortable some members of the group have become. In other words, in the past when we were uncomfortable or embarrassed to ask someone else to do our part, we were making more effort to finish our part of the job, and I think that individual discipline is getting a little bit lost.

Having said that, we could tell that the best moment of the week for us was when we recorded it, for reasons I mentioned before, that was the fun part of the activity. On the contrary, after thinking about it and talking about it with my colleagues I believe the worst part of the week was the first day we started the activity, none of us knew how the Hour of Code website worked and most of the members of the group had never heard of it. That's why we started the task a bit blindly.

At the beginning I think the way we approached the task was a waste of time, because before reading, each and every one of the group members, the instructions provided by Linda and the application itself, we directly got into a game to see how to play it, which obviously went wrong. To solve this we stopped for a moment and rectified in time, read all the instructions, reflected about the watched videos that were inside some games and read the instructions in each game until we found the ones that best suited us.

I think at that point we learned that in order to do a task correctly all members must be aware of all the factors related to the task, and obviously look up and ask questions about anything we don't know.

We have also learned the importance of this website for the classrooms, we guess that we will use it because the new generations will be much more technologically advanced than us, that is why it is so important to implement digital programming activities, to raise awareness among children of the importance that will have this sector and also give them a way to know the programming works in a simple way which perhaps can give them an incentive to be programmers in the future.

Maybe getting them to be programmers with this website is too much but the important thing is to be the best version of ourselves so that our students are even better, and using this site would be only a small part of what we could do. We have also found that it is twice as useful in these last few years of the pandemic because it is an activity that can be done online.

In this task I have realized that what we have to keep as a group is our ability to adapt to different scenarios because as I said before we have gained confidence that makes us communicate any problem we have and adapt to it. As for example in this activity, which none of us had any idea how it was going to go because the application that we used for the podcast we had not used either, and the speed with which we have become familiar with it is something very good. Also this week I have realized that we are a pretty tidy and demanding group with ourselves. Orderly because we write absolutely everything we have to take into account to get a good grade in the task, either by writing it down in the google document that we have shared or by sending it through our whatsap group, and demanding because we write all this down for a purpose that is to get the highest possible grade, something that we have noticed that in other groups does not happen in the same way.

This relates to what we need to improve as a group, due to this competitiveness to try to give the best of us, at least the majority of members of the group, has left some tension because for each of us the fact of giving the best means different things, this adds to the fact that we are in a complicated stage because soon the exams are approaching and we are starting to study, together with the rainy weather that is proven to also affect the mood and also this adds to the personal difficulties of each member of the group at home, something that lately is also getting worse, I personally consider that we all need a rest but there is little left and the next holidays are at Easter so we have to try to endure the last stretch as well as we know how.

This activity is not only related to resurcos and ICT, that is only the main subject it is focused on, I think that in this career all the subjects are very linked to each other because if we realize that all have the same goal, to be a better teacher. In this way we could relate the activity with many if not all the subjects of the degree. The activity is done in English, it is something that must be prepared and planned taking into account all the different factors, the psychological part of the students is always present because we must take into account how this will affect the intelligence of each student, in addition to taking into consideration the multiple intelligences which with many of these tasks could be enhanced or at least put into practice, in addition also takes into account the linguistic part in the practice of almost all activities.
